Supervisor: Dr. Alexander G. Petrov 1995: B.S., Mechanics, Applied Mathematics, Moscow State University, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Moscow, Russia. Professional Experience: -------------------------- 1999 to date: Assistant Mathematician, Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Illinois, USA. 1998 -1999: Researcher, Institute for Problems in Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia. Supervisor: Dr. Alexander G. Petrov Major Accomplishments: ------------------------ * Developed automatic statistical algorithms for analysis of hybridization image acquired by CCD camera, which perform high-speed pathogen recognition with high reliability of interpretation and low probability of false-positive calls. (C/C++, Windows 98, NT, or higher, successfully tested on 200MHz portable subnotebook.) * Developed fully automated laboratory fluorescent scanning microscope with uniform illumination, multicolor capability, wide-range temperature stabilization, fast temperature response, humidity control. This device is used in the Biochip Center at Argonne as a tool for biological experiments with hybridization microarrays, including thermal dissociation experiments. * Developed control software for the microscopic equipment in the Biochip Center at Argonne, to conduct experiments, acquire and analyze images, and retrieve numerical data. (C/C++, Windows 2000, project included creation of custom drivers for various CCD cameras, and various controllers and positioning equipment.) * Developed tool for analysis of thermal dissociation curves, to calculate the transition temperature and the speed of transition, which is immune to experiment noise. (C++, Windows or UNIX.) * Participated in development of the portable version of the thermally controlled laser-powered multicolor microscope. * Participated in development of drivers and control software for custom microarray manufacturing robots. (LabVIEW) * Participated in development of databases for biochip manufacture and quality control. (LabVIEW, MS Access, MySQL, ODBC interface) * Run local file server for group of approx. 15 researchers for data access and sharing in heterogeneous environment (Windows 98, Windows 2000, Mac, Linux). Created a tool for web-based data upload and retrieval with configurable permissions. (Linux, Samba, Apache, GNU C for additional programming.) * Developed microcontroller-based pocket Morse code reader and transmitter with automatic recognition and adjustment of reception, with logging capability via serial port. (Zilog eZ80 25MHz, ZDS development kit (C language), no additional drivers on PC side.) Additional information on technical skills that are not included above: Computer platforms: PDP/RSX, DOS, MSX-1/2. Programming languages: Pascal (Delphi), Fortran, PHP, Python, TeX, JavaScript, Basic/Visual Basic, Macro Assembler. Microcontroller platforms: Rabbit2000, Basic Stamp, Motorola (MC68 family).
